Three ways to sweat

We take our classes very seriously, but it's also just about having fun - unless you're the only one having fun. Then we're just serious.

105°

Bikram Yoga

105° of character development.

The original 26-posture series. Heated to 105°F, structured the same way every time, and surprisingly addictive. Come for flexibility, strength, focus-or because you like knowing exactly what you're getting into.

hot, not heated

Power Yoga

Sweat now. Overthink later.

Hot, athletic and constantly moving. A stronger, freer flow for days when you want less structure and more movement. Not heated. Definitely still hot.

Sculpt Pilates

Shake is a feature, not a bug.

Pilates precision meets weights, strength and a hot room. Controlled movements, serious burn, excellent music. Not heated.

Experience matters

We know what we're doing.

We've been teaching bodies - not trends - since 2010. Some people walk in for their first yoga class. Others have practiced for decades. Both belong in the same room.

Good teachers know when to push, when to correct, when to leave you alone, and when you're taking yourself way too seriously.

'CUZ WE HAVE FUN.

We take the practice seriously. Ourselves, considerably less so.

Why here, not there

We've been hot since before hot was a thing.

yogamakesme has been sweating with Miami since 2010. Bikram, hot Power Yoga and Sculpt Pilates under one roof, with teachers who know what they're doing and a community that eventually starts feeling like yours.

Let's get it om

Every time you leave before savasana, a unicorn dies.

yogamakesme has been part of Miami's yoga life since 2010. More than a decade later, we're still here for the same reason people keep coming back - serious practice, real heat, strong teachers, and a room where you can work hard without taking yourself too seriously.

Bikram is the core, with Power Yoga and Sculpt Pilates adding more movement, strength and a little chaos. Some people arrive for one class. Some somehow end up seeing us five times a week. We support both questionable decisions.

We're a barefoot studio with four showers, free parking, a lot of sweat, and very little interest in pretending yoga has to be precious. We take the practice seriously. Ourselves, not so much.

YES, WE HAVE RULES.

The memorable ones first. The practical ones right after.

BIKRAM DISCIPLINE

BE STILL. CONCENTRATE. MEDITATE.

When you're not in a posture, be still.

DO NOT WIPE THE SWEAT.

It's going to come back. You will lose this battle.

BREATHE THROUGH YOUR NOSE.

Slow the breath down and stay with the practice.

NEWBIES STEP BACK.

Not metaphorically. Literally. Watch the people who know what they're doing.

BE ON TIME.

This one isn't philosophical.

DO NOT TALK.

There are approximately 23 other hours in the day for that.

STAY FOR SAVASANA.

Every time you leave before savasana, a unicorn dies.

BORING BUT USEFUL STUFF

Barefoot studio

Please leave shoes by the door. Riding a bike? Bring your own lock. No bikes inside.

Parking & showers

Ample free parking right in front. Four showers available. Please keep showers under 10 minutes after class.

No lockers

We don't have lockers. Please don't bring valuables into the hot room. Anything left in your car is at your own risk.

Late cancel / no-show

Cancel by email at least 4 hours before class. Late cancels and no-shows may incur a $15 fee or loss of class credit.

Teenagers

Teens are welcome if they personally want to practice and can commit to the entire class. No going back and forth during Bikram.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE GOOD AT THIS.

You just have to show up.

Your first class

It's gonna be intense. You've got this.

You don't need experience to start - just be ready to work hard and sweat. A few things apply no matter which class you take; a few are specific to Bikram's heated room.

For any class
What will you need?
Bring a mat, towel, and water - or rent/buy from us (mat and towel rentals are $5 each). Wear light, comfy clothes. Hydrate a few hours before class, not right before - most of your hydration should happen at least an hour ahead. A light snack like a banana is perfect; trust us, you don't want your Buddha bowl making a comeback in downward dog.
What to expect
Classes are tough for everyone - even the most advanced yogis - so don't stress or feel self-conscious. Every class type has its own intensity; Bikram's heat adds an extra layer, so see the Bikram-specific notes below if that's the class you're starting with.
Arriving & cancellations
The studio opens about 10 minutes before class and stays open 15 minutes after. First time? Come at least 10 minutes early to register. Pre-booked and don't cancel in time? You'll lose your drop-in fee, or get a $15 charge if you're a member. Cancel by emailing studio@yogamakesme.com at least 4 hours before class.
Style variety
Bikram is the base - same postures, same room, same discipline, every time. Everything else is Bikram as a base until it isn't: Power Yoga and Sculpt Pilates flow differently depending on who's teaching. One thing you can be sure of either way - it's not going to be easy.
Bikram-specific etiquette
Breathing & sweat
In the Bikram room, breathe only through your nose - mouth-breathing stimulates an unnecessary fight-or-flight response. And don't wipe the sweat: it's your body's natural air conditioner and, over time, will become your best friend.
Adjusting to the heat
You might feel dizzy or lightheaded your first few Bikram classes; that's totally normal, your body just isn't used to moving in 105° heat yet. It can take up to 10 consistent classes to adjust. Try to hit 8 classes within 14 days and you'll get through to the other side.
Dialogue-only teaching & staying in the room
Bikram is taught through dialogue only - postures are learned by listening, not watching a demo. Don't know what to do? Just follow along with the practitioners near you. Do not close your eyes until final shavasana, and try not to leave the room - if you need a break, just sit or lie down on your mat.
No latecomers
In true Bikram style, no latecomers are allowed once class begins - specifically, no entry after pranayama breathing starts. If it's your first time, arrive at least 10 minutes early to register and get settled.
Why is Bikram heated?
The skin is the largest organ in the body, so sweat is the fastest way to move toxins out - the more you drink, the more you sweat, the more you detoxify. The heat also lets you go deeper into stretches without hurting yourself: flexibility and strength build each other, and the balance of both is key for injury prevention. Higher heart rate means more calories burned, better circulation, and increased lung capacity.
Injuries
Bikram is designed to work for people with all kinds of injuries - but always listen to your body, and let a teacher know what's going on so they can help you move safely.

Yoga took Julia to Peru. She stayed.

Julia, founder of yogamakesme, now lives in Peru, where she hosts small-group ayahuasca retreats in the Sacred Valley.

It's not a yogamakesme class with better scenery. It's a completely different experience, built around traditional plant-medicine ceremonies, an intimate group and one of the most extraordinary landscapes on earth.
